About “Orbit”
My world of “Orbit” lives in the twilight of the mysterious and subtly frightening. The work is a twisted nostalgic reflection on a city decimated by “Project 19,” a scientific experiment gone terribly wrong. It is a world populated by xenomorphic human/animals, astronauts, extra-terrestrials, and the “Forever Clowns.” These images are a glimpse into events taking place in this fantastic and shadowy place where the bizarre is almost mundane.
In this fantastic world of shadows, I take the things that scared us as children and make them both whimsically expressive, and darkly fantastic. These paintings are a unique blend of the surreal and the macabre, with a touch of playfulness thrown in which, for me, makes them somehow more troubling. My use of color and light achieves an uncommon luminosity because of the Grisaille technique of underpainting value (the grayscale beneath the image).
Through my art, I invite you to recall and explore your own childhood fears and phobias, to confront the darkness that lies within each of us, and to find a way to engage with those memories creatively, for I believe it is our creativity that ultimately sets us free.

My Giclee’s are printed on the most luxurious of cold press water color paper. Their heavy weight (380 gsm) and tooth combined with their archival quality makes them remarkable delivery media for my work.
